The Vistosi family has been active in the field of art glass for over three centuries. Fascinated by the esthetics and production methods of modern design, Gugliemo Vistosi opened his own glassworks on the Murano island in 1945. By attracting excellent artists like Alessandro Pianon, Ettore Sottsass, Angelo Mangiarotti, Gae Aulenti and many others the company became a well known name over the last decades. Though Gugliemo’s sons Luciano (1931-2010) and Gino (1925-1980), who joined the company by the mid 1950’s, played and equally important role establishing this reputation by designing a large number of outstanding lamps.
This rare bottle shaped pendant light is characteristic of Gino’s restrained design approach: simple forms and monochrome colors. The lamp is mouth blown and executed in the typical Venetian incamiciato technique, in which the inner layer of white, milky looking glass is covered with glass in a different color. Due to this overlay technique, the glass changes color as soon as the lamp is switched on: from taupe to a beige hue. Both colors fit perfectly in a contemporary interior.
As electrical requirements vary from country to country, we recommend that you always have lights checked and installed by a local professional.
