Toni Zuccheri (1936-2008) was one of the most prominent Italian glass artists of the 1960s-1970s and 1980s. After studying architecture in his native Venice, with Franco Albini, Ignazio Gardella and Carlo Scarpa as his professors, Zuccheri joined Venini. At Venini he initially collaborated with Gio Ponti on several projects, but soon had his own designs executed as well: Ranging from glass birds to mystical abstract compositions. Though Zuccheri spent most of his active career at Venini, he also worked for other Muranese companies, like VeArt, Barovier & Toso and De Majo.
This particular pendant was executed circa 1970 and displays a rare combination of two Zuccheri glass techniques: the Membrane and Volcano technique.
