Typical Italian mirror from the 1950s. Marked Caprotti ECM, Creazioni Milano. Made in Italy. The stickers are on the front at the top, most likely this mirror has never been used or has never been sold. Never the less some wear to the mirror and few chips to the glass around the mounting system on the back (invisible when the mirror is mounted to the wall).
Periode 1950-59. Mirror glass with smoked glass and chrome.
Dimensions: height 29.9 in. (76 cm), width 22.0 in. (56 cm), depth 1.2 inches (3 cm).
Though the mirror is marked with a Caprotti sticker, this Monza based company is rather a retailer than a manufacturer. Already in the 1950s the shop was selling products of brands like Arteluce, Arredoluce and Stilnovo, and the Caprotti’s themselves stood in close contact with Gino Sarfatti, Angelo Lelli and Bruno Gatta. Given their interest in outstanding design it’s very likely that the Caprotti’s sourced this mirror from another high quality manufacturer as well, possibly Crystal Art or Fontana Arte.
