Umberto Riva (1928) is an important Milan based architect. Since he established his own office in 1960 he has (re)designed numerous buildings in a highly personal manner. As a lighting designer Riva is equally versatile by creating mysterious pieces in glass - like the Medusa and Veronese - while designing more modernist pieces in metal, like the E63 and Telescopio. The Telescopio lamp derives it's name from the fact that can be pulled out steplessly. Originally the Telescopio was produced by Enzo Francesconi from Brescia. Already in the early 1970's Bieffeplast acquired the production rights. The lamp for sale is from the rare Francesconi production run, which also have slightly different dimensions than the more common Bieffeplast samples.
