Rare original wall clock Number 2236. Design by George Nelson and Associates for Howard Miller Clock Company, Zeeland Michigan, 1957.

Walnut dial with silk-screened pattern in green and blue. White numerals and hands. Mechanical clock work with a key.

Dimensions: diameter 15.5 in. (39,4 cm), depth 2.5 inches. (6,4 cm).

The timepiece runs fine, it has been professionally cleaned and renovated. Some small stains, some lost of paint, the hands have been touched up here and there, but the clock looks beautiful after all these years. It still has an original Howard Miller sticker, I don't think this looks nice, but it is original. It is up to the new owner whether it will remain.

Comes with a key that fits fine, I don't know if this key is original from Miller. I thought Miller's original keys were stamped with the logo.

The clock has a kind of trompe l'oeul effect. The green/blue rays and the squeezed numbers make it look like the clock is convex. That's what I thought when I first saw a photo. However, the clock is completely flat.

"The purpose of good design is to ornament existence, not to substitute for it." George Nelson, 1957.
